I paint to share. When I see something amazing out in the world, I can’t keep it to myself. I want to invite people to join me in that wonderful feeling. My landscapes tell stories about places that mean a lot to me, whether it’s the Virginia countryside, the coast of Maine, or corners of the Washington, DC area. Many of these places are in national parks or other protected lands, and I want my paintings to remind us why we must care for these spaces and ensure that future generations can enjoy them. I combine the rich colors of oil paint with energetic brush strokes to create paintings with a vibrant energy that shows in clouds, rocks, mountains, monuments, oceans, trails, and trees. A painting is a special moment captured on canvas; a moment I can share with others. Through painting I connect people with the colors, textures, sounds, and light of these extraordinary places. I want those who see my work to think, “I remember visiting that place, it’s one of my favorite memories!” or “What a beautiful sight; I must go and see that for myself!”
